Five Parties You Need to Hit This Week

BREAKANDENTER + BOX OF KITTENS = 2×4 YEAR ANNIVERSARIES
With Nebula (live PA), DJs Jamie Kidd, Martin Fazekas, Hali, Mike Gibbs, Fabio Palermo. Saturday (December 10) at Polish Combatant’s Hall, 206 Beverley St. $15 advance tickets at boxofkittens.ca. $20 at door with BOK pin or RSVP to rsvp.breakandenter.net.
Why you should go: Speaking of family affairs, this shared anniversary party is a celebration of thriving underground/warehouse promotions crews breakandenter and Box of Kittens, and all that they have contributed to this city’s techno and tech house community. Both crews have staunchly stuck to a format of presenting local, national and international artists in unique venues — i.e. rarely in licensed dance clubs — with full, proper sound and creative visuals. Through their events, they’ve helped build a new late-night network and a solid foundation for highlighting the local. The programming here reflects this, with artists playing tag-team sets on a huge soundsystem nicely contained within a soundproof venue. Hurrah!

Jamie Kidd.

Despite the loss of Radiolaria, Manifest lives on, and is embarking on a search for a new space to serve as a focal point to develop our community. On September 2nd, embark on a trek to a galaxy far, far away (that’s the east end, by the way!), where outer space will meet inner space.
We will journey beyond 1166 Dundas W (at light speed, no less!) to Planet Zion. A zero-g feast for the senses awaits us. Intergalactic sights and sounds inside; astral travel opportunities outside. Most importantly, an all-night chance to DREAM together as we raise funds for a space of our own. For those of you who are new to our mission, we intend to establish a multi-use community arts centre: a space for creation, workshops, community building, health and wellness services, and social support. This event is – more than anything else – the official launch of our membership drive! Memberships to the Manifest Collective will be sold at Space Quest and will get you in for FREE to the event. (See below for further details.) But for now… IT’S PARTY TIME!! STARSHIP (inside): 10:00 – Nebula (http://juggernautmusic.com) Also, be sure not to miss the mesmerizing phenomenon that is SADIE.
