(I’ve been vocal about the lack of a dark-themed SoundCloud HTML5 player, or at least a little more ability to customize, for some time now. With this player, your sound’s graphic becomes the player’s background – it could be a solid colour, or it could be an image, as shown here. The image’s geometry seems to be scaled to the player’s largest dimension, while cropping from the right or bottom as necessary to maintain the image’s original aspect ratio. Embedding this player requires iframe code at the moment, but I suspect hope it will find its way into the next version of WordPress.)
